In this document, we presented the Executive Committee of Banro Corporation with a persuasive argument for addressing the problems created by the presence of illegal AM faced by the CR and Mining departments and the problem of shortage skilled operational labour faced by the HR department. This document is backed up with statistics on community involvement in labour and alternative livelihoods and its outcome in various pilot projects. Our brief is based on the conviction that the introduction of an appropriate alternative livelihood mainstream, with specific projects to be used in the HR and CR system, that include specific training programs for members of the local community will result in less pressure and trouble from the AM and in a greater support a from the communities where the company operates on one hand and in savings for the Company in terms of accommodation and catering and even salary package for the skilled labour on the other hand Policy Brief on Sustainable Community Skills Development
